Remediation

Soil remediation along a highway

Environmental remediation is the removal of pollution and contaminants from environmental media such as soil, groundwater, sediment, or surface water.

Once remediation is recommended, whether after a contaminant release due to an accident, by a government entity such as the Department of Environmental Quality, or a landowner who has incurred a release on their land due to vandalism or accident, immediate action should be taken due to the potential to cause immediate and long-range environmental impact.

With over 40 years of experience and the use of innovative technologies, Environmental Management provides cost-effective, on-site remediation services in compliance with stringent federal, state, and local regulations.

Remediation strategies are as varied and complex as the variety of contaminated sites. A single project may require the use of one or more technologies proven to be effective for a particular type of contamination in a specific setting, whether it is site geologic and hydrologic surveys, the identification of responsible parties for complete remediation and site closures, or complete site investigations.

Using our strong project management skills and a comprehensive understanding of our clients’ requirements, project scope, and cost factors, we are able to complete projects safely, on schedule, legally compliant, and within budget.

Storage Tank Service and Removal

With over 25 years of storage tank management experience, Environmental Management offers you maintenance, cleaning, and management of both above ground (AST) and underground (UST) storage tanks. We have the experience, training, and equipment to perform sampling and analysis, tank cleanout, and if necessary, removal of underground or above ground storage tanks.

If removal of an underground storage tank is necessary, we will excavate the tank, transport contaminated soils and rinsate, and dispose of the tank in accordance with local, state, and federal regulatory guidance. We will notify regulatory agencies and obtain approvals throughout this process. Above ground storage tanks can be cleaned and decommissioned intact or may be dismantled and destroyed on site.

Transportation

At Environmental Management we are committed to assisting you with your facility’s waste in the most environmentally sound, legally compliant, and cost-effective method available. The proper transportation of waste materials is as important as their treatment and disposal.

Utilizing our own fleet for transportation services, or through our long-standing relationships with transporters in other areas, Environmental Management can provide services immediately or concurrently with our other projects to alleviate costs.

We also provide guidance to you, the generator, so your facility maintains full compliance with your state-specific and all DOT and RCRA federal regulations. From the generation point to the final disposition facility, for one bucket or 5,000 gallons, Environmental Management provides you with safe and economical transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.

Lab Packing

Environmental Management performs the identification, classification, packaging and disposal of laboratory chemicals, samples, and out of date materials. We can handle all your small containers of diverse chemicals and substances, both known and unknown.

Our technical staff includes chemists, field chemists, and environmental scientists who possess years of related experience and are experts in the classification of hazardous waste according to EPA and DOT regulations. In addition to disposal, we can also assist with relocation of your laboratory through proper packing and transportation to your new facility.

For over 30 years, universities, government and municipal entities, hospitals, chemical facilities, manufacturing facilities, and laboratory research facilities, as well as commercial and private property owners have trusted Environmental Management with their small container disposal needs.

Disposal

Environmental Management is able to assist customers with all of their waste processing needs. Waste can be anything from household bleach to highly toxic chemicals. As a producer, transporter, or end user, you are required to keep track of the material from the time it enters your facility until it leaves. In some cases you are responsible for it even after you have sent it for disposal. It is essential that your waste is properly identified, characterized, and handled in accordance with local, state, and federal regulatory guidance.

We will work with you to gather pertinent information about your waste, and when necessary our staff can take samples and provide certified laboratory analysis. Our professional staff continually searches for innovative solutions to your unique environmental issues and relies on their extensive and diverse experience to develop the best and most cost-effective solution for each project. We also encourage recycling, reuse, and volume reduction techniques to reduce your waste stream and potential liabilities.

VSQG Consolidation and Disposal

A Very Small Quantity Generator (VSQG) is one who generates less than 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of hazardous waste per month. Disposal of such small amounts can be very costly, but we can receive and consolidate VSQG materials at our own facility - a more cost-effective option.

Our facility is permitted as a Transfer Station, and as such we are able to accept and process VSQG hazardous and non-hazardous waste from any generator. We perform certain chemical treatments and consolidation services at our facility, then use a network of specialized treatment and disposal facilities throughout the country for final disposition. We ensure quick, efficient services that will be in full compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
